Monday Mom Tip!

A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!  (King Richard III, Act 5)

No truer words have ever been said.  Until now.  My dishwasher!  My dishwasher!  My kitchen for a dishwasher!  Yeah, I’m trying not to lose it.  My dishes have residue and are not getting clean.  What absolute worse time is there to have your dishwasher on hiatus than 2 weeks before Thanksgiving?!  Well, I’m taking on the task of cleaning that bad boy out.  I’ve tried (here’s the tips)

1.  Running a few empty cycles with no detergent, dishes or rinse agent

2.  Running a few cycles with vinegar in the rinse agent compartment (nothing else in there)

3.  Running a few cycles with a cup of vinegar in the top drawer

All worked for a short duration, but now I think I’ve hit a wall.  Time to take it apart and start degunking.  Well, almost.  I love blogs and found a tip that just may work even better (before I have to take out the toolbox-or call someone).

Run hot water in the sink for a few minutes before starting the dishwasher to degunk the sink (I’ll probably also do the vinegar & baking soda with some salt as well to really get the goop out).  Then, pour 1 gallon of vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher.  Let it sit a bit then run on the pots and pans cycle.

We’ll see how it goes.  If you’ve had this dilemma, what did you do?  Did it work?

Until next time!
